“Coming to Perth, having this life changing experience and interacting with various development actors in the age care industry is the highest and the most monumental best practices with so much nostalgic feelings that I have ever experienced. This cannot and will never be forgotten in my entire life.”

These are the thoughts of our CommonAge delegate Francis Njuakom Nchii who attended the recent the ACSA / IAHSA joint conference on our scholarship program.

In the NEWSROOM interview below, a joint initiative of Australian Ageing Agenda (AAA) and Aged Care Channel (ACC), Mr Njuakom highlights it’s empathy we need, not sympathy.

We are also delighted to hear that while he was attending the conference, Mr Njuakom  was elected and appointed to serve as Director, on the Board of the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) with headquarters in Toronto, Canada.

“This is to me great news that has come at the time when we are all working towards our strongest goal of ensuring better and equitable lives for older people in Common Wealth countries,” he said. “I feel therefore so encouraged, so inspired and so motivated to do more than what I have ever done before to ensure that my work for the elderly, for IFA and for Commonage in and out of Cameroon gets better and that I give nothing but the best to the service of older people.

Since returning to Cameroon, briefings of the lessons learned with our senior management. I plan to have a staff meeting of our staff at all levels, at the end of this month during which time I shall share all lessons learned with them.

We are very much looking forward to hearing more from Mr Njuakom in the future.
