Decade of healthy ageing

We are supporting the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing

We are delighted to be a part of the network of organisations supporting the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing.

This is a global collaboration that brings together diverse sectors and stakeholders including governments, civil society, international organisations, professionals, academic institutions, the media and the private sector to improve the lives of older people, their families and communities.

Join governments, civil society, businesses, and other organisations around the world in the pledge to take meaningful action to improve the lives of older people, their families and communities.

Our Decade of healthy ageing pledge

“Through research, advocacy and lobbying, CommonAge will, and is raising the awareness level of the ageing demographic and ageism throughout the 56 Commonwealth countries.

We do this by organising events and participating at The Commonwealth Heads of Governments meetings to ensure the rights of older people remain high on The Commonwealth’s agenda.

We will continue to promote opportunities for intergenerational activities and to provide free resources and information.”

Taking the Pledge

In the video above, our Board member, and CEO for The Association for The Ageing (TAFTA), Femada Shamam pledges to ‘adopt an attude of gratitude’, and it shows how TAFTA is taking meaningful action to help and support people in South Africa to live long and healthy lives.

We are delighted our publications, A Common Wealth of Experience: Freedom fighters, child brides and other untold real life stories and our white paper on Ageism in the Commonwealth are a part of Decade’s knowledge resource section.

Many of our partners have joined us in taking the pledge.
